How does an iPhone get locked?<\/h2>\n

Most people protect their cellphone with a PIN, password, or lock pattern to avoid other people from accessing your information or using your cellphone without your permission.<\/p>\n

This is a simple and easy to use system to keep your iPhone protected. What will happen then if someone tries to guess your code?<\/em> IPhones allow you to enter a PIN, password, or lock pattern up to six times before the phone is completely locked. Regardless of how your iPhone ended up getting blocked, or why you need to unlock it, the following methods will allow you to do it without having to enter a PIN or password.<\/p>\n

The best method for you, or the best method overall will depend on the iOS version that you run, and your specific needs.<\/p>\n

Method 1: Through iTunes (if you had previously synchronized your iPhone)<\/h3>\n

If your phone is blocked because you forgot your password, or because you entered it incorrectly too many times<\/strong>, you won\u00b4t be able to use it nor have access the information that the phone contained until you unlock it.<\/p>\n

If your iPhone was synchronized with iTunes, one of the easiest ways to use your phone again is to create a backup, format your iPhone, and restore the backup that you had created.<\/p>\n

This is less complicated than what it sounds. To unlock your iPhone without a password, the only thing that you\u00b4ll have to do is to follow these steps:<\/p>\n

1. Connect your iPhone to your computer using its USB cable.
\n\u00a0
\n2. If iTunes does not open automatically, open it by double-clicking its icon on the desktop, or through the home menu.<\/p>\n

3. Once opened, your iPhone will need to sync to iTunes. On the upper part of your phone, you will see the message \u201csyncing PERSON\u00b4s iPhone.\u201d If you haven\u00b4t synced your iPhone on this computer, it may ask you to enter your password, so this method only works if you have synced your iPhone beforehand in your computer.<\/p>\n

4. Select your device by clicking the iPhone icon below the \u201caccount\u201d option, or by clicking the device\u00b4s name.<\/p>\n

5. You will see an overview of your iPhone and, among the options that appear, you will see the options \u201cmake a backup\u201d or \u201cmake an emergency copy of your data\u201d. You can save this copy on your iCloud account or in your computer. In some cases, the option to make backups automatically is activated. But, if you want to have access to your iPhone without a password, you will have to delete everything on your phone, so we would recommend you to have an emergency backup, which should be the most recent backup possible.<\/p>\n

6. Look for the option \u201crestore iPhone\u201d, and click on it.<\/p>\n

7. \u00a0A new window will appear, and it will inform you that all of the information stored in your phone will be deleted, and it will ask you to confirm this before continuing. Since we\u00b4ve had created a backup, you won\u00b4t lose anything. Click on \u201cconfirm\u201d or \u201crestore\u201d.<\/p>\n

8. Accept Apple\u00b4s terms and conditions by clicking on \u201cI agree\u201d. This will begin the restoring process in which iTunes will reinstall iOS in your iPhone.<\/p>\n

9. Once the restoring process has ended, click on the option \u201crestore backup\u201d to add once again your contacts, photos, messages, and your settings. This process tends to last 30 minutes, so be patient.<\/p>\n

10. Now you can have access to your phone without having to enter a password! If you want to set a new password or code from now on, you will have to manually activate this option.<\/p>\n

Method 2: through recovery mode<\/h3>\n

If you\u00b4ve never synchronized an iPhone with your iTunes account, or you didn\u00b4t deactivate the option of having to enter your password each time that you connect your iPhone to your computer, you will have to do the same procedure (restore your phone and add your most recent backup,) but through recovery mode.<\/p>\n

Keep in mind that this method does not allow you to create a backup right before wiping out everything that you have on your iPhone<\/strong>, so you may lose information unless you make a recent backup that you\u00b4ve had created right before your phone has been blocked. Follow these steps to unlock your iPhone without a password via recovery mode:<\/p>\n

1. Connect your iPhone to a computer by using its USB cable<\/strong>. It could be any computer, and it is not necessary that you have had synchronized your iPhone beforehand.<\/p>\n

2. To put your phone in recovery mode<\/strong>, choose one of the following options depending on which iPhone you have:
\n\u2022 IPhone 6 and older (including the iPod touch)<\/strong>: Press and old both the home button and the top button until the recovery screen appears (usually, this screen is a black screen with the picture of an USB cable.)
\n\u2022 IPhone 7<\/strong>: Press and hold both the button to lower the volume and the side button until the recovery screen appears.
\n\u2022 IPhone 8<\/strong>: Press and release the button to increase the volume, press and release the button to lower the volume, and press and hold the side button until the recovery screen appears.
\n\u2022 In any iPhone<\/strong>: Only connect the USB cable to your computer, not to your iPhone. Turn off your phone. Press and hold the home button, and do not release it while you connect the other end of the USB cable to your iPhone. Do not release the home button until the recovery screen appears.<\/p>\n

3. On iTunes, a screen that will allow you to restore or update your iPhone will appear. Choose the option \u201crestore\u201d<\/strong>. This will erase all of the information in your phone, and it will reinstall the operating system, which could last for a few minutes.<\/p>\n

4. You can once again use your iPhone just like before! If you have a recent backup, search for the option \u201crestore backup\u201d on iTunes.<\/p>\n

Method 3: Via using \u201cFind My Phone\u201d (NOW FIND MY)<\/h3>\n

Find My Phone<\/a> is an Apple app that allows you to track your mobile phone<\/strong>, make it chime, or show an onscreen message.<\/p>\n

All of these options were designed to help you recover your iPhone in case that you lose it, and as part of the available options to protect your device in case that it gets stolen or lost.<\/p>\n

It also allows you to erase all of the information that your device contains, and be able to restore it remotely.<\/p>\n

Just like the previous method, you cannot create a backup if you use Find My Phone<\/strong>. So, unless you have a recent backup, you may lose part of your data.<\/p>\n

To learn how to unlock your iPhone without a password through Find My Phone, follow these steps<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

1. Open the app \u201cFind My Phone\u201d, which comes included on any iPad, or got to a web browser, go to iCloud\u00b4s website, and look for the option \u201cFind My Phone.\u201d<\/p>\n

2. Log in by using your Apple ID and your password.<\/p>\n

3. Select the device that you want to restore in \u201call devices\u201d.<\/p>\n

4. Touch or click the iPhone on the map, and choose the option \u201cerase the phone\u00b4s contents\u201d, \u201crestore\u201d, or a similar option.<\/p>\n
